Almost everything you see in Dubai was built in the last fifty years. In 1975 the city had under two hundred thousand people; today it has close to four million, from more than two hundred nationalities, and only about one in nine holds an Emirati passport. The trade that started it never stopped. Jebel Ali is the largest container port in the Middle East, DXB handles more international passengers than any airport in the world, and the financial centre houses over five thousand companies.
For corporate groups, the draw is reach; Europe, Asia and Africa are all within a night’s flying. And the distances here are short.
